Gospel of Mark Illustrated in Greek - English

Gospel of Mark Illustrated in Greek - English

Gospel of Mark Illustrated in Greek - English

The GlossaHouse Illustrated Greek-English New Testament (GIGENT) is an innovative resource that will allow readers of Greek to have a more embodied and engaging experience with the Greek New Testament. This volume, which embeds Greek narrative, monologue, and dialogue within colorful illustrations, is truly the first of its kind. The ability to pair the Greek text with artistic renderings is of great value. This allows the text to be contextualized (and remembered) in a way that words standing on the page alone simply cannot do. The images can also assist readers in figuring out the immediate context of a verse or passage. Along with the Greek text, an English translation is conveniently located at the bottom of each page. This translation also allows readers, in the instance that they cannot recognize a word, to quickly glance down to the foot of the page to receive a gloss or translation help. GlossaHouse hopes that the GIGENT will create a more exciting and enjoyable reading experience for students of Greek. Other volumes in this series are underway and GlossaHouse hopes to eventually produce the entire New Testament in this format.

The Book of Acts Illustrated in Greek

The GlossaHouse Illustrated Biblical Texts (GIBT) series provides innovative resources that will allow readers of biblical and other languages to have a more embodied and engaging experience with Scripture. This present volume, which embeds Greek narrative, monologue, and dialogue within colorful illustrations, is the second New Testament volume. Pairing the Greek text of John with artistic renderings is of great value. This allows the text to be contextualized (and remembered) in a way that words standing on the page alone simply cannot do. Along with the Greek text, an English translation is conveniently located at the bottom of each page. This translation is fresh and also fairly literal; we have attempted to preserve word order significance and accurately represent the important features of the Greek text that are more emphasized and, therefore, more prominent. All of this was intended for the beginning student in mind, who may need help with Greek word meanings and understanding the significance of special constructions like purpose, conditionals, and participles. In this work, we have applied current research on linguistics and have sought to strike a balance between trying to translate the importance of every sentence element but not “over-translating” and moving into commentary.

The Book of Acts Illustrated in Greek

The GlossaHouse Illustrated Biblical Texts (GIBT) series provides innovative resources that will allow readers to have a more embodied and engaging experience with Scripture. This present volume includes the Acts of the Apostles from The Greek New Testament, Produced at Tyndale House, Cambridge. This new Greek edition of Acts is set within illustrations of narrative, monologue, and dialogue—the first of its kind. The ability to pair biblical Greek with artistic renderings has great value and allows Scripture to be contextualized and remembered in a way that words alone on the page simply cannot do. Below the Greek text and illustrations of Acts is provided the GlossaHouse English Version (GEV). This translation freshly considers best contextual English senses for every Greek word; an attempt is made to preserve word order significance and to accurately represent important features of the Greek text that are more emphasized and, therefore, more prominent. All of this was intended for the beginning student in mind, who may need help with Greek word meanings and understanding the significance of special constructions, like circumstantial participles, subordinate clauses, and direct and indirect discourse. This translation applies current research on linguistics and Greek grammar, emphasis constructions, orality, performance, and social-cultural backgrounds.

The Book of Daniel Illustrated in Greek

GlossaHouse Illustrated Biblical Texts (GIBT) present the books of the Bible in their original languages, embedded scene by scene in the context of evocative, full-color illustrations. These innovative resources will accelerate your comprehension by helping you distinguish narrative from dialogue at a glance. The illustrations provide visual cues for action, tension, and emotion, inviting an immersive reading experience in the ancient languages. While the books are supported by an original English translation on each page, the graphic approach of the GIBT series pushes against a tendency in biblical language learning to make translation the end goal. On the contrary, we hope that these books will help you begin to think in the biblical language—to hear echoes of the authors’ own voices, thick with the accents of their ancient dialects. Whether you are a beginning student of biblical languages, or an accomplished scholar, our hope is that this fresh presentation of the ancient texts will ignite your imagination and turn the world of these words into an expansive, multicolored landscape in your mind’s eye.
